What is your job at SenSat?

Office & People Manager

Why did you join SenSat?

From the moment I met the team, it was clear that this was a fun, friendly and hardworking environment where I will be able to thrive and develop. The product is awesome and the potential for the company is huge! I’m looking forward to seeing where we’re headed.

How did you get into what you do?

My career path has been predominantly in tech and within the Office/People function, I slipped into it through my first role in recruitment for small SaaS businesses.

What is the most rewarding part of your role?

Working with people and ensuring that they’re happy at work is what keeps me going, I feel rewarded when everyone is happy.

What trends do you think will shape people management and collaboration over the next ten years?

Collaboration and people management go hand in hand, each person prefers a different way of management so it’s key to personalise this - the better they are managed the more collaboration we will see. With such a growing focus on data, I feel that we will see lots of change to the people function including how we can best engage our employees to get the best results.

It can be difficult to define company culture, what do you think is the most important step a company can take?

Creating an internal vision for the company, in my opinion, is the most important thing to do within a business. By putting a vision in place, our colleagues will be more motivated, inspired and aligned on exactly what it is that we want to achieve.

Do you think that diversity in the workplace is important? If so, why?

Diversity in the workplace is mega important. There’s no shortage of research that shows bringing people from different backgrounds, with different experiences, thoughts & opinions will increase creativity, productivity and employee engagement (to name just a few of the benefits).

What country are you from?

Born in London. Raised all over the world.

What are your interests outside of work?

I love visiting markets (Christmas time is the BEST). I enjoy running, I recently ran a half marathon and intend to do it again - maybe next year. I’m obsessed with dogs, plants, food and travelling.

What book has had the most impact on your life? What did it teach you?

Probably my diary from when I was younger, a bit of a cheat as it’s not a book but it reminds me to enjoy every moment.

What are some things that everyone should try at least once?

Skydiving and pizza.

If you could travel back to any one point in time, what would it be and why?

Back to my junior school days so I could learn Arabic with much more ease.

If you could invite five people, dead or alive, to a dinner party, who would you choose?

My grandparents from both sides in their 30’s (if that’s possible) and probably James Corden before he got famous-famous.
