What is your job at SenSat?

Assistant Engineer / Remote Pilot. I plan, fly, process and deliver data to clients working on major infrastructure projects around the world.

How did you get into what you do?

While studying Geology at University I was taught the principles of topographical surveying and was fascinated with the use of high-end technology to help capture vast amounts of data. I also had a passion for photography/videography and bought myself a DJI drone. I spent a lot of time out of lectures flying my drone along the Cornish coast capturing videos of surfers and cliff jumpers. Soon after graduating in Summer 2018, SenSat offered me the perfect job combining both my knowledge of surveying and passion for drone technology.

What’s your favourite thing about your job?

Flying drones on massive infrastructure projects around the world and learning new skills every day.

Why did you join SenSat?

When I arrived at the SenSat office for my first interview, I was struck by the buzz about the place and was made to feel part of the family before I'd even got the job. The role suited my love of the outdoors/travel/tech and I was especially attracted to the fast paced start-up life on offer.

What has been your favourite memory at SenSat?

While out on operations flying a 52 km long survey, our van became stuck in a muddy ditch in the middle of nowhere. Through team-work, ingenuity and a little muscle power, we managed to get the van out successfully without the need for rescue.

Project managing the successful operation of SenSat’s largest job (16 km2) to date in Cambridgeshire. This project involved the capture of multiple assets including highways and rail and the project was nominated for a Rail Partnership award.

What’s the coolest thing about the SenSat office?

My 49-inch ultra-wide curved monitor and high end workstation (with LED’s)... obviously.

If you could write a slogan for SenSat, it would read:

Young, hungry, driven start-up, bursting with ambition.
